The Shard stands at 310 metres and is one of the tallest buildings in Europe.
A spokesperson for The Shard said: "We are investigating an incident involving a member of the public this morning."
Eyewitness Mr Knock, said: "I was buying some cheese from the store opposite St Thomas's Street and looked up and this guy was coming down with his parachute.
"It was obviously a dangerous thing to do but he pulled it off skilfully."
He and another man bundled up the parachute within seconds of landing and left the scene. Police and staff from the building arrived at the scene soon after, Mr Knock said.

What is Bonfire Night? The history of November 5

Why do they have Bonfire Night and fireworks displays every November 5 in the UK?

Fireworks display

What is Bonfire Night?

On November 5 people across the UK celebrate Bonfire Night.
There are small fireworks parties in back gardens along with big organised displays in public parks.
The reason they do it is because it's the anniversary of an attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament led by a man called Guy Fawkes.
It's called the Gunpowder Plot, and bonfires are lit to burn the "Guy" - a kind of dummy that represents Fawkes.

What was the Gunpowder Plot?

Guy (Guido) Fawkes led the Gunpowder plot in 1605. It was a plan to blow up King James I and his government.
Fawkes and his group put 36 barrels of gunpowder in cellars under the Houses of Parliament in London, ready to set off a massive explosion.
One member of the group sent a letter to his friend who worked in Parliament, warning him to stay away on November 5.

The King's supporters got hold of the letter and the plot was rumbled!
Guards broke into the cellars where the gunpowder plotters were waiting. They were arrested, tortured and executed.
The Gunpowder Plot was about religion. England was a Protestant country, and the plotters were Catholic.
The group wanted to return England to the Catholic faith. They thought they could do this by killing King James I and his ministers.

Minecraft global gathering comes to London

Heaven was a place on earth for the biggest fans of Minecraft this weekend as Minecon - the global gathering for players of the hugely popular game - came to London.

It was the first Minecon held for 18 months during which time the 70 millionth copy of the game was sold and Mojang itself was sold to Microsoft for $2.5bn (£1.6bn).
In total, 10,000 fans visited the Excel convention centre in London's Docklands for Minecon and, in doing so, set a Guinness world record for an event dedicated to one video game.
The convention drew attendees from more than 73 countries, with some coming from as far away as New Zealand just to join in.
Minecon filled every hall at the sprawling Excel exhibition centre. The main presentation stage hosted the opening ceremony, a Minecraft game show, costume competition and a dance show celebrating the game. Another hall was given over to an expo involving a tournament area, Minecraft-themed funfair booths, statues of blocky Minecraft animals and merchandise stalls.

As well as being a hit with many individual players, the game's success has made stars of many people who make Minecraft-themed videos - day in, day out. This year Minecraft became the most watched game of all time on video-sharing site YouTube.
Any vlogger or YouTuber recognised as they walked around the show was mobbed by fans who waylaid them to get an autograph or take a selfie with their idols.
One of the most popular sessions at the show was with a Q&A on Saturday on the show floor with a group of of popular vloggers and YouTubers known as The Pack. Between them the members of The Pack - Mr Woofless, PrestonPlayz, JeromeASF, BajanCanadian, Vikstarr123HD and Lachlan - have an average age of 20, and more than 15 million subscribers.

Future features

At the convention, Mojang also talked about features in forthcoming versions of the game which will include letting characters carry and use objects in both hands. In addition, some elements of the game, an area known as The End and its final boss - the Ender dragon - are also getting updates.
An exhibition of Minecraft-themed art was on show at Minecon

The first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode - which turns the game into an episodic adventure - was aired at the show and gave people a glimpse of the story that will be played out in that.
Mojang owner Microsoft also took the opportunity to give attendees a glimpse of the version of Minecraft it is preparing for the Hololens augmented reality system. Microsoft staged a competition to pick 50 convention goers who were able to don the helmet and get a look at the invention.
But despite the enthusiasm and creativity on show, not everyone who attended was sold on Minecraft's appeal.

Election 2015: Fox makes a bid for Downing Street

The general election campaign is under way, after Parliament was officially dissolved. Journalists waiting outside 10 Downing Street on Monday morning spotted a fox, apparently chasing a duck.( From BBC News)

We already know how smart and sly foxes are, but this one is much more than that. She revealds really  bold . Maybe this wasn't her first raid on the area and for some reason she didn't feel any kind of threat, so she wasn't afraid of being chased and there she was, right in front of the Prime Minister's official residence, chasin a duck, a delicacy for her sharp teeth enough to fill her belly for the day.

Largest cake sculpture record attempt

A world record attempt for the largest cake sculpture has been launched in London.

The massive cake was put together by forty five volunteers over six hours and is big enough to feed twelve thousand people!
It weighs two tonnes, which is nearly the same weight as an average African elephant.
But to break the record the entire cake must be eaten, with all the money raised going towards a children's charity. Yum!

'Silly walks' Buckingham Palace Guardsman under investigation

A British soldier is being investigated for apparently breaching military discipline by trying to entertain tourists while on guard duty outside Buckingham Palace.
A video posted on YouTube shows the Grenadier Guardsman, in full ceremonial uniform, pirouetting and marching in a comical fashion.
A military spokesman said any soldier falling short of the army's high standards could expect to face appropriate action.
Andy Richards, who was at the palace with his children, filmed the Guardsman in action. He told the BBC he "seemed to be not doing what he should... he was obviously playing a bit to the crowd."

'Big Ben' clock tower gets cleaned

Cleaners have been busy scrubbing the clock on the Elizabeth Tower at Westminster Palace.

Many people know the landmark as Big Ben - which is the nickname of the bell inside the clock tower.
The tower was named Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The clock hands were frozen at 12:00 so the four cleaners could abseil in front of the clock face. (From CBBC newsround)

The tower holds the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world and is the third-tallest free-standing clock tower. The tower was completed in 1858 and had its 150th anniversary on 31 May 2009, during which celebratory events took place. The tower has become one of the most prominent symbols of the United Kingdom and is often in the establishing shot of films set in London.
The Elizabeth Tower (previously called the Clock Tower), named in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II in her Diamond Jubilee year, more popularly known as Big Ben,was raised as a part of Charles Barry's design for a new palace, after the old Palace of Westminster was largely destroyed by fire on the night of 16 October 1834.

The new Parliament was built in a Neo-gothic style. Although Barry was the chief architect of the Palace, he turned to Augustus Pugin for the design of the clock tower, which resembles earlier Pugin designs, including one for Scarisbrick Hall. The design for the tower was Pugin's last design before his final descent into madness and death, and Pugin himself wrote, at the time of Barry's last visit to him to collect the drawings: "I never worked so hard in my life for Mr Barry for tomorrow I render all the designs for finishing his bell tower & it is beautiful."[ The tower is designed in Pugin's celebrated Gothic Revival style, and is 315 feet (96.0 m) high (roughly 16 storeys).
The bottom 200 feet (61.0 m) of the tower's structure consists of brickwork with sand coloured Anston limestone cladding. The remainder of the tower's height is a framed spire of cast iron. The tower is founded on a 50 feet (15.2 m) square raft, made of 10 feet (3.0 m) thick concrete, at a depth of 13 feet (4.0 m) below ground level. The four clock dials are 180 feet (54.9 m) above ground. The interior volume of the tower is 164,200 cubic feet (4,650 cubic metres).
Despite being one of the world's most famous tourist attractions, the interior of the tower is not open to overseas visitors, though United Kingdom residents are able to arrange tours (well in advance) through their Member of Parliament. However, the tower has no lift, so those escorted must climb the 334 limestone stairs to the top.
Due to changes in ground conditions since construction, the tower leans slightly to the north-west, by roughly 230 millimetres (9.1 in) over 55 m height, giving an inclination of approximately 1/240. This includes a planned maximum of 22 mm increased tilt due to tunnelling for the Jubilee line extension. Due to thermal effects it oscillates annually by a few millimetres east and west.(in Wikipedia)

"The idea is you can come have a peaceful lunch or high tea and be surrounded by cats. If you're lucky one of them will fall asleep on your lap," said Anna Kogan, co-owner of Dinah's.
The café has 11 cats, donated by people leaving the country or unable to care for them.
Anna says she plans to adopt more cats if they get the go-ahead from the local council.

Kitten found on London tube train

A tiny kitten, believed to be four weeks old, was found on a District Line train on the London Underground on Monday.

Kitten
Covered in a sticky substance, the kitten was handed in to staff by a passenger. She has been named Victoria after the station where she was found

She was handed in to staff at a lost property office, and they passed her on to an animal charity to be cared for.
The kitten is so young, staff at Blue Cross animal charity are hand-feeding her.
A spokesman for the charity, based near to Victoria station, said: "It is a mystery as to why she was left on her own, without her mum or possible littermates."
"Little Victoria is certainly one of the most unusual items of lost property handed in to London Underground."

Victoria, who was found on Monday at around 9pm, is doing well and will be transferred to the charity's rehoming centre in Lewknor, Oxfordshire, on Monday.
The kitten is being looked after by the Blue Cross charity.

Giant climbing frame sculpture opens in London

A giant climbing frame sculpture has been built in London's Kensington Gardens

It's an annual project where the Serpentine Gallery asks an architect to design a pavilion for its gardens.

Japanese architect, Sou Fujimoto, is the thirteenth and youngest person to design a sculpture for the gardens.
He has created a giant, cloud-like structure, that looks a lot like a climbing frame! It opens to the public this weekend and is free to visit.
The sculpture takes up over 350 square metres of grass and is made of 20mm steel poles.
Unlike normal exhibitions, visitors are encouraged to go inside and interact with the Pavilion, which will be there for four months until October.
